»Anything that feels good to my soul« is how Donia Touglo describes her music. And a wild mix of global sounds, Afrobeats, electronica, house, neo-soul and psychedelic must feel pretty good. The musician, who also works as an actress and performer, was born in Togo but has been living in Cologne for a long time, where she was named NRW’s best newcomer in 2021. She sings and raps her lyrics in Ewe, English and in what’s called »the language of her soul«. With her genre-spanning songs, she wants to connect worlds – not to mention people. And she succeeds magnificently, especially in her energetic live performances.
