Three men are standing behind a net that looks like a fence because it covers the entire picture. There is a large hole in the net at the bottom right. All three men look into the camera. The one on the left is holding on to the net. It is Wanlove the Kubolor, who wears a red translucent face visor with a black mount, black short dreadlocks that stick up and a full black beard. His hair is shaved off at the sides. His outfit is a green-beige-brown-black camouflage cloth wrapped around his body and neck. Shoulders and arms are bare. Next to him is a white male person with long brown hair, short full beard, brown horn-rimmed glasses, white baseball cap turned backwards, white shirt with green, rose and pink small squares as a pattern and sunglasses in the collar. The third person wears sunglasses with thick red rims on the bottom three sides of the lenses, and thin sunglasses hanging from the collar of his rose-coloured T-shirt. M3nsa Ansah has short black hair and a full beard. All three are visible up to the waist.

FOKN Bois

Two years ago, Wanlov the Kubolor created a powerful video essay for Pop-Kultur that addressed structural violence against members of the LGBTQI* community and the homeless, but above all served as a gesture of solidarity and empowerment. Now, he’s finally coming to the festival in person with M3NSA: together they are the FOKN Bois, who gained notoriety in 2014 for writing the world’s first musical in Pidgin English. The Ghanaian duo always give attitude in their beat-heavy hiplife songs, and what they think of genre classifications can be inferred from the title of their EP: »Afrobeats LOL«. In other words: »This is not an African thing… Just a FOKN thing.« And above all, a very danceable thing.
