Çaystube

The Çaystube, designed as a performative installation, is intended to serve as a space for experience and relaxation in the midst of the festival intensity. Every year, the concept is developed further and adapted to the new circumstances and needs of the visitors.

As part of the Kultursommerfestival Berlin, the Çaystube programme in the Kulturbrauerei courtyard is free and open to the public. As such, it offers low-threshold access for a broad and diverse audience and, as a safer space, facilitates exchange and encounter, which are more necessary than ever after difficult times of restricted contact.

Beyond the social and political aspirations, a diverse cultural programme is presented on the stage. This year, the centrepiece of the Çaystube is the interactive and performative Commissioned Work »Karaokee Xpress« by gal sherizly & Như Huỳnh, where visitors can become stars in the Pop-Kultur sky themselves. No matter who comes or where they come from, everyone can be in the spotlight. The artists will blend essences, tastes and smells from all over the world into drinks. Acts such as the queer, non-binary singer Anthony Hüseyin, the casual heartbreaker Fuffifufzich and the Kreuzberg newcomer Wa22ermann will also perform.

Art and discourse, conversations and singing together: Welcome to the Çaystube!
